Haul of Fame | Remote | Part-time contractor | $250 to $3,500+ per month
Are you into fashion, always experimenting with outfits, or the friend everyone asks “what should I wear”? Haul of Fame is a new styling app where you build outfits, get inspired, and show off your style, and now you can actually get paid for sharing it. The app is currently in beta (invite only) and we’re looking for someone to help build and grow our first community. Bring your friends into the app, set up a group chat to hang out and swap looks, and start earning just for keeping it active. No sales experience needed.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll act as a Community Manager for Haul of Fame, setting up and running one of our first communities of friends and peers, and helping bring them into the app.
This is a part-time, remote, independent contractor position (1099, no health insurance or employee benefits). It’s fully flexible with no fixed hours and no time zone requirement.
It starts as a two-week trial. If it’s a good fit for both sides, the role continues on an ongoing monthly basis, with potential to grow into more responsibility and even a full-time position as your community grows.
THE FIRST TWO WEEKS
To get started, you’ll set up one community group on a platform of your choice (Discord, GroupMe, WhatsApp, or similar). Your goal is 10 eligible installs in your first two weeks, and each of those 10 also needs to join your community group.
An install counts as eligible when the person is 17 or older, US based, and genuinely interested in fashion and styling, and when they join your community group, download the app, create an avatar, complete the tutorial (the first two challenges), and submit a real outfit.
If you don’t hit 10 within two weeks, the trial ends and no payment is owed. If you do, you officially become a Haul of Fame Community Manager. You’ll keep building for the rest of the month and get paid at the end of it. The same group-join requirement applies to every eligible install going forward, not just the first 10.
HOW PAY WORKS
Your pay is a monthly base plus a bonus for every person you bring in.
The base grows with the size of your active community, starting at $150 for a group of 10 to 25 and rising through $250, $500 and $1,000 as you grow, up to $1,500 once you pass 100 active members. There’s no rigid activity metric here. It’s a judgment call on whether the community is genuinely alive and growing rather than a static list of names.
On top of that, every eligible install earns you a flat $10, starting from your very first one with no minimum before it kicks in.
In practice that means around $250 a month at the entry level of 10 installs, roughly $750 at 50, about $2,000 at 100, and $3,500 or more once you’re past 200. A community that stops growing or goes quiet is a sign the role may not be the right fit going forward, so continuation is a case by case call.
GETTING PAID
Payments go out once a month, at the end of each calendar month, primarily via Zelle with Wise as a backup. Before your first payment you’ll complete a simple W-9 (name, address, and Social Security number, no business registration needed).
Since this is contractor income, it isn’t taxed at the time of payment. You’re responsible for reporting it on your own taxes, and it’s worth setting aside a portion (commonly 25 to 30 percent) for self-employment tax. If your total payments for the year reach the IRS reporting threshold, you’ll receive a 1099-NEC early the following year.
GROWTH PATH
This role is designed as a working trial. Community Managers who show a real ability to build and grow a community, not just recruit with a code, can be given more responsibility, a bigger event budget, and a path toward a full-time position.
